Rice Campus Faculty Office Computers

All faculty offices at Rice Campus now have a computer installed by Rice Campus. All systems are running Windows XP Professional.

Each computer has a default login name in the format "faculty2XX" where 2XX is your office number, with no password required. The systems includ Microsoft Office 2000, and printing in both room 218 (the faculty lounge area) and in the Johannesen Computer Center. The printer in the faculty lounge area is the default and appears on the printer menu as ipp_216.47.140.81. As these computers use addresses from our pool of dynamically-assigned addresses, please ensure that you always shut down Windows and turn off the computer when it is not in use.

In some cases where there is already a computer installed in the office and the Rice-Campus supplied computer would occupy too much desk space, the computer has been placed in the office but not installed. If this is the case for your office, I will work with you and your office-mates if you do need access to the computer we have supplied. If you have a computer in your office but will not need it with this new addition, please let us know that as well and we will work with you.
